About This Course
A Category Analyst supports category growth and profitability using SKU-level analytics. The role tracks sales, margin, inventory availability, and vendor performance to recommend assortment changes, pricing actions, and promotion plans. Analysts measure SKU productivity, identify winners/losers, and optimize assortment depth and breadth based on demand and seasonality. They evaluate promotion effectiveness—uplift, cannibalization, margin impact—and support planning calendars. Vendor analytics includes fill rates, lead times, defect/return rates, and commercial terms. In e-commerce, the role may also consider search visibility, conversion rate, and customer reviews. Tools include Excel, SQL, and BI dashboards. This role suits candidates who enjoy commercial analytics and can grow into category management or commercial strategy.
